2-Eleven track day prototype faster than expected in first tests

The first real-world performance tests of the new Lotus 2-Eleven have proven it to be even quicker than anticipated. According to sources close the Norfolk car maker, a 2-Eleven prototype has already cracked the 0-60mph sprint in just 3.9 seconds and hit 100mph in just 8.9 seconds. And those figures could yet be shaved further still by a few tenths. The 2-Eleven weighs in at just 670kg and is powered by supercharged and Lotus-tweaked version of Toyota's 1.8-litre VVTL-I motor, which is good for 252bhp. Production kicks off in April and the car will cost £39,995 in track form and £41,100 in UK-only road-going form. The price hike reflects the cost of the Single Vehicle Type Approval test. Overseas, the 2-Eleven will only be sold as a track car.
