Production of the hybrid sportscar will start this year; deliveries will start in summer 2010

Fisker has confirmed it has received more than 1000 orders for its plug-in hybrid sportscar, and deliveries are now expected to start next year.

Fisker spokesman Russell Datz said the firm had received 1400 orders and the first customers were expected to take delivery of their cars in May or June 2010, with production starting later this year.

Datz said: “We are still scheduled to begin production toward the end of this year. Pre-production and prove-out vehicles will give way to customer cars toward early summer 2010.”

Designed by former Aston Martin and BMW designer Henrik Fisker, the Karma is the same height as a Porsche 911 but has the internal space to fit four adults and their luggage.
