Ford has increased its new car prices in the UK for the fourth time this year.
From 1 December, an average price rise of 2.7 per cent will be applied cross Ford’s range. The company says the continued weakness of the pound against the euro has forced the latest rise.
Nigel Sharp, Ford of Britain managing director, said: “To combat the continuing weakness of the pound against the euro, Ford has reduced costs across its entire UK business, including personnel reductions in its central operation and across its dealer network.
“However, price increases are still required to maintain a viable business and to recover relative cost increases caused by the weakness of the pound over an extended period.”
Asides from smaller capacity engines, Ford imports almost all of its stock and components from the continent. The pound is worth around a third less against the euro than it was this time two years ago.
An extra £250-£500 will be applied to the Ka, Fiesta, Focus, C-MAX, Kuga and Mondeo models, with £600 being added to the price of the S-MAX and Galaxy. Prices for the Ford Focus RS will remain unchanged.

The problem is just one, they don't make cars here.
Compare the spec and price of a CR-V with a Kuga, Ford are having a laugh.
Don't kid yourself with that chestnut the residual value of your car is going up either, you still got to replace the thing with another bloody car, e.g. a new C1 with wind up windows is now over £8K list! They were £6K before the scrappage fiasco.

I remember reading that Ford were jealous that VW could charge £600 more for a Sharan purely because it had VW on the nose. The Galaxy was almost the exact same car but suffered greater depreciation too. It seems Ford is now pitching the models up a level now, but they have no cheaper brand to fill the void they're leaving. Unless they just want to get away from Chevy, Hyundai, Kia et al.... Mind you, they had to do something about the Fiesta pricing because initially it was only £500 more than the new Ka and so you'd have been stupid not to get the bigger vehicle. There was no way they would reduce the price of the Ka, although I believe they have made a mistake taking the Ka away from what it was, a nice cheap, runabout which was best in it's purest stripped-out form. When I got my Fiesta, the dealer had just got the first new Ka in the showroom. We discussed it, looked at the flowery seats and he said "it's not an everyones car now, we're probably going to be selling it to women and a certain type of man". LOL !

True for private buyers but most of these cars when new are company cars. It makes a difference then. Not just the list price but also the fact that the equiverlent 3/5 series have much lower Co2 outputs.
