Renault’s budget brand Dacia will launch in the UK in 2012, the company has confirmed at the Geneva motor show.
The first Dacia model to be launched in the UK will be the Duster compact off-roader, which made its public debut at the show yesterday.

Renault has put off launching Dacia in the UK for the last couple of years due to the weakness of the pound next to the euro as its models wouldn’t be able to sell its cars at a profit.
The firm has now decided the Duster will be car to spearhead the brand in the UK and this could be followed by its Sandero hatchback and Logan small saloon.
Renault’s UK managing director Roland Bouchara said the firm had been watching the rising success of the Dacia brand and the company felt that its value for money would be appealing in British buyers.

spot on!
I know many people have driven to Saturn and back without so much as an oil change but curiously that doesn't seem to have got the residual value of the Renault marque up above the thickness of bog roll... apparently engineering perfection hasn't been everyones experience then. (we dumped the last one from fleet long ago).
Back to Dacia, it will make a compelling 'for peanuts' secondhand buy for teens to fit bean can exhausts and embed in trees, probably skidding on their own engine oil leaks.

The Dacia brand has done very well even outside of it's native Romania. It has been a big hit in Germany especially in light of the scrappage allowance sheme there.
Cannot confirm on reliability but for someone wanting a brand new car, with latest safety features and value for money I am sure they will do well in the UK.
In Europe they compete on price with cars in a segment below. The Duster looks good too and does not have many rivals In Poland it has just gone on sale starting at the equivalent of £9000.
