New 2+2 will be revealed at Pebble Beach; powered by twin-turbo BMW engine

Morgan will launch its new EvaGT 2+2 coupe at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August.

The new model is based on the Aero Supersport’s aluminium chassis, but has been modified to resemble the one used by the firm’s GT3 racer. The 1250kg EvaGT uses aluminium body panels that are finished by hand.

Powering the EvaGT is a BMW-sourced twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine that produces 306bhp and 295lb ft.

The car can get from 0-62mph in 4.5sec and go on to reach a top speed of 170mph. Morgan also claims the EvaGT is capable of 40mpg and has CO2 emission of around 200g/km.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto’ gearbox. The EvaGT uses fully independent suspension all round.

Full details, along with the final design of the car, will be revealed in California on 15 August.

Re: Morgan EvaGT coupe revealed

Agreed, however this is still a genuinely exciting prospect. It's looking increasingly likely that Karl Ludvigsen's theory that there will evetually only been a small handful of large manufacturers and Morgan left will come true. Hooray for one of the greatest of British institutions.
