Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo says the company has nothing to fear from the launch of the McLaren MP4-12C, a direct competitor to the 458 Italia.
The MP4-12C mid-engined supercar will go on sale sometime in 2011.
The company intends to price the car towards the upper limit of the supercar segment at between £125,000 and £175,000, against rivals like the forthcoming Ferrari 458, the Lamborghini Gallardo and Aston Martin DB9.
But di Montezemolo shrugged off suggestions the McLaren could rival Ferrari's efforts.
"‘I’ve got a lot of respect for McLaren if they want to do a road car," he said, "but I like competition and I like to win."

Re: Ferrari: "We don't fear MP4-12C"
Admirable candour. I'll stop now.
Re: Ferrari: "We don't fear MP4-12C"
At this end of the market people will buy one of each, no need to make a choice
Personally im a bit disappointed that McLaren have led with this model, surely a successor to the F1 to compete with the Koeniggsegg would be better than starting with what is likely to be their entry model

He's not contributed anything today (but give him time) although I note Mr Six Incher has managed a slightly obsessive 450+ postings in the last month....
