Mark Webber has said is ready to return to the cockpit of his Red Bull at Silverstone after his horror crash at the European grand prix.
The Red Bull driver struck the back of Heikki Kovalainen's Lotus on lap nine of the race last weekend, causing his car to backflip before careering into a tyre wall.
Webber walked away from the crash, sustaining only light bruising. He told Germany's Auto Motor und Sport: "I have a bit of swelling in some places, but I'll be fit for Silverstone."
He added on his Twitter account: "Feeling good this morning, roll on Silverstone."
Red Bull has yet to say whether Webber's chassis can be built, one he has used in both his victories so far this season.

As I said, he's no prima donna and I like him a lot. He's the most down to earth driver there's been in a while as far as I'm concerned. Still though, these guys all know about each other's cars' limitations. I don't believe Webber didn't know the Lotus braked earlier. And if you think the other guy's doing something stupid then you give it another corner until you can overtake safely, just like in the real world. Anyway...
No relation to the Spitfire guys btw.

I'm picturing Jasper Carrott reading the insurance claim form: "the guy in the slow car in front of me put on his brakes so I ploughed straight into the back of him". Look, I like Mark Webber, he's no prima donna, but much as it pains me to agree with Eddie Jordan I think he's right - Webber is largely to blame for the accident. If Kovalainen had been weaving all over the track to block the guy behind him like Hamilton did earlier in the season then maybe it's more on him, but he wasn't. He was driving more or less straight and Webber was just too aggressive right then. There are very few circumstances where the guy doing the rear-ending isn't at fault.

Why does Autocar report F1 news when it is far better reported and more prompty on the motorspost web sites?
I hav eread Autocar for over fifty years so my comments are not a criticism more an observation that Autocar is for road car and associated content.
