This is the KTM X-Bow R, a more powerful and even more track-focused version of the lightweight track day special.
Pictured here in its first outing at the Nurburgring, the X-Bow R uses a tuned version of the Audi S3’s engine to boost power to up to 300bhp.
The engine will also be positioned lower than in the standard car to offer increased cornering speeds and “driving precision”.
Customers will also be able to specify two optional packages: Sport and Race. The homologated Sport package is road legal, while the Race package turns the X-Bow into a track-only machine.

KTM has yet to reveal what the changes over the standard model are, expect for confirming all modifications will “increase the performance of the car dramatically”.
The new parts will also be available as retro-fit options to the owners of the 500 standard X-Bows already sold through the firm’s PowerParts programme.
KTM is also working on a 2011 model year version, which it will reveal early next year.

Re: KTM launches hardcore X-Bow R
Tricky on turbo cars, though, intake & exhaust all muffled in pipes & compressors.
Re: KTM launches hardcore X-Bow R
I expect 300bhp was the optimum output for power delivery feel for the driver.
I watched the 5th Gear review on TV for the original model and i think the only criticism was the lack of sound/character from the engine, and the gear shift not a sporty action.
They should have it with DSG in my opinion, F1 style with paddle shifts. As for engine sound i expect intake and exhaust can be tuned more.
Re: KTM launches hardcore X-Bow R
I like the insane design of the X-Bow but it's too expensive even in its standard trim, how much will cost this? I expected more power from the R version, the ABT "official" kit got already 300 hp...
