First picture of the five-door Range Rover Evoque leaks on to the internet; LA debut in November

The first picture of the five-door Range Rover Evoque has leaked on to the internet.

The Romanian site that leaked the picture claimed the five-door model would be on show at the Paris motor show later this week, but instead Autocar understands it will be unveiled ahead of a Los Angeles debut in mid-November. The model pictured here was shown to dealers ahead of the Paris show.

It will have shortened front doors and narrow-aperture rear doors and sales are likely to start in 2012.

Like the three-door model, two specs of 2.2-litre turbodiesel powerplants, with 148bhp and 187bhp, will form the bulk of sales. Both of the models will have stop-start as standard when accompanied by a manual gearbox. There will also be a petrol version, using a 237bhp variant of Ford's turbocharged 2.0-litre Ecoboost engine.

The front-drive 148bhp diesel will return 58mpg and less than 130g/km of CO2 when paired with a manual gearbox (adding two driven wheels will cost you 8mpg and more than 15g/km).

But the oil-burners and the petrol motor will also be offered with four-wheel drive and an updated six-speed auto transmission; it's controlled via the rising circular selector from the Jaguar XF.

A full-length panoramic roof will be on the list, but if you don't want glass, contrasting paint colours of lid will also be available as a no-cost option.

Inside, you can spec a dual-view TFT screen for simultaneous sat-nav and television display, and upgrade the stereo to a 1200W, 17-speaker Meridian system.

Other options include park assist, dual-zone climate control with a timer facility, a powered tailgate, adaptive headlights and a heated windscreen.

Are the headless kids an optional extra?

Maybe they are a delete option. Thankfully my kids are a bit older but I can imagine that anyone with an under 8 will not like this. Kids hate not being able to out

Re: Range Rover Evoque 5dr revealed

Saw this on an American site yesterday , which suggested it is not on show in Paris because it is not certain for production - just an idea.

I thought the LRX / Evoque was supposed to have some kind of advanced hybrid drivetrain , rather than Ford motors.

I do not care how many doors the thing has,you

can not see out of it.

It must be like looking out of a letter box.
