Red Bull’s fantasy X1 racer, one of the stars of the new Gran Turismo 5 Playstation 3 game, has been made into reality by a UK design team.
Industrial Design Consultancy (IDC) has produced this life-size model of the concept race car that was designed by Red Bull Racing’s technical boss Adrian Newey.

IDC made the car over the past six weeks in sections using data from GT5 developed Polyphony that were then CNC machined and seamlessly fitted together. The concept, designed without Newey’s normal constraints of strict F1 regulations, is 4.75 metres long and 2.2 metres wide.
As the model is a show car only, the game’s 1479bhp twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 powertrain does not feature. In the game the Red Bull is capable of 0-62mph in 1.4sec and 0-200mph in 6.1sec, while top speed is 280mph.
Red Bull’s new F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel managed to break Suzuka’s lap record by more than 20 seconds.Peter Lyon blog: Just how realistic is Gran Turismo 5?

Re: Red Bull fantasy racer made real
There is nothing real about it. What's not to dismiss? It's not like they are actually developing it.
Re: Red Bull fantasy racer made real
non-existent it maybe, in regards to an actual working car, but you got to admit it's something that could be developed, after all someone built the Caparo which the Redbull car has a look of?,anyway, it shouldn't be dismissed out of hand like you've done.
Re: Red Bull fantasy racer made real
'Real' is only loosely applicable here. It's a static model of a non-existent car...
