Saloon version of new VW Passat BlueMotion returns 68.9mpg and has CO2 emissions of 109g/km

Volkswagen has launched this BlueMotion version of its new Passat, which is capable of 68.9 mg and has CO2 emissions of just 109g/km in saloon guise.

Powering the new VW Passat Bluemotion is VW Group’s familiar 104bhp 1.6-litre common-rail turbodiesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The Bluemotion is also available as an estate, where economy is 65.7mpg and CO2 emissions are 113g/km.

The car benefits from a range of fuel-saving features, including stop-start, revised aerodynamics to reduce drag, lower suspension, an underbody panel, a revised front grille, and low rolling-resistance tyres. The saloon also gets a rear spoiler.

Standard equipment includes climate control, iPod connectivity and curtain airbags.

The saloon model starts at £19,875, while the estate kicks off at £21,180. It is available to order now and will reach UK showrooms from the end of July.
