Renault will reveal an upgraded special edition version of its Renaultsport Megane 250 next week.
But contrary to internet speculation, Autocar understands the car will not be a successor to the Renault Megane R26R.
Renaultsport has trailed the car in a viral video showing the special Megane’s development team with it during tests at the Nurburgring.

The car features a special livery that covers some of its minor cosmetic changes but its full identity is not revealed. The title of the video tells viewers that the car will be launched on June 17.
Autocar understands the Renaultpsort Megane’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder will receive a small power and torque boost, but not enough for it to be considered a R26R successor.
Indeed, the video reveals the interior of the car to be standard and without the stripped-out features that the R26R was famed for.
