The air-cooled engines will come in three guises - a 296bhp 3.6-litre version for Touring models, a 375bhp 3.9-litre unit for the Sport and a range-topping 419bhp 4.0-litre unit for the Singer 911 Cup.

Singer has also announced its collaboration with composite materials company Aria Group, which will prepare, paint and deliver Singer’s carbonfibre bodies.

Rob Dickinson founder of SVD said "We are thrilled to be involved with these incredible companies who together bring a wealth of heritage, intelligence and global engineering expertise to this labour of love. This is not just about re-imagining an icon; we're working in a collaborative spirit of excellence to build something that celebrates Porsche's genius and the air-cooled era of the world's most important sports car: the Porsche 911."

Prices for the Singer 911 start from $190,000 (£119,000) to “more than” $300,000 (£188,000), depending on each individual customer's specifications.
