Ford has added a new special edition ‘Metal’ Fiesta to its Ford Fiesta range.
The new car gets a 1.6-litre Duratec petrol engine, which produces 132bhp and 118lb ft of torque – enough to propel the Fiesta Metal to 62mph from standing in 8.7sec.
Three colours are available - Panther Black, Midnight Sky and Frozen White. Features of Ford’s new warm hatch include a lower ride height, 17-inch black alloys, chrome twin exhaust pipes and a silver-painted front grille surround.
Inside, Metal Fiestas get Ebony Black leather sports seats with silver contrasting stitching, a Piano Black centre console, stainless steel door scuff plates with Fiesta logo and floor mats with silver piping.
Based on the three-door 118bhp Ford Fiesta Zetec-S, standard specification includes electronic stability programme (ESP) and Home Safe headlights.
Prices for the Ford Fiesta Metal start from £15,695, with units limited to 1000.
Ford has also confirmed the availability of its frugal Econetic engine in mid-range Zetec and top-of-the-range Titanium models.
The 1.6-litre TDCi diesel engine – previously only available in Edge guise – produces 94bhp and emits 95g/km Co2, with a combined fuel economy figure of 78.5mpg.
Above the £13,895 Edge model, the £14,445 Zetec Econetic adds 14-inch alloys, front fog lights, chrome-rimmed headlights and a leather steering wheel.
The top-of-the-range Titanium variant is priced from £15,645 and adds a DAB Radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, cruise control, power folding door mirrors, tinted windows, and automatic headlamps and wipers.
Standard equipment on all cars includes ESP, air-conditioning and low rolling resistance tyres.
Ford’s marketing director Anthony Ireson said: "Many drivers want to drive a car with lower emissions but still want comfort, performance and an affordable price. Expanding Econetic across the series answers that demand, with style."
