A new Quattroporte will join a Ghibli executive saloon and the Levante SUV over the next three years

Maserati has confirmed it will launch three new products in the next three years, a new Quattroporte early in 2013, a new 5-series-sized saloon called the Ghibli in the middle of the year and the Levante SUV in 2015. The new models are part of a plan to drive sales to 50,000 units annually by 2015.

The new Maserati Quattroporte will be revealed at next year's Detroit motor show, and will be larger than the current model. It will also be sold with all-new powertrains. Pricing for entry-level models is likely to fall to around £80,000 but rise at the top end to beyond £120,000.

The Ghibli will be based on a shortened version of the same platform and be priced substantially below the current lowest-price Maserati. "It will not be so low to change the brand," said Maserati boss Harald Wester. "Nobody will be trading an Astra for a Maserati."

The SUV will go in sale in 2015, the year the marque will celebrate its centennial year. The Maserati Levante name was confirmed at the Paris motor show, and replaces the concept car's name of Kubang. "The concept name was only chosen to draw a line with the 2003 SUV concept of the same name - it was never intended for production," said Wester.

Ghibli

"Nobody will be trading an Astra for a Maserati."

But they'll probably be trading an A6 or 5-series for it, and given the number of those round me I think that might be it for a Maserati Gran Sport being on my dream car list.

Why?  Well I wouldn't want anyone to associate me with the quality of 'driving' demonstrated by the Audi and BMW owners round here!
