Peugeot’s new 208 GTI has been given its latest public airing at the Sao Paulo motor show in Brazil – complete with a nod to the home market.
The Peugeot 208 GTI gets a Brazilian flag on the lower part of its grille. Peugeot plans to offer the national flag of the country it is sold in on all 208 GTIs, including in Britain where Peugeot hopes to invoke the spirit of the Peugeot 205 GTI.
The new 208 GTi is due to go on sale in UK early next year, with power coming from a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine with 197bhp.
Peugeot has a strong presence in Brazil; its recent 207 and 208 superminis have proved particularly popular. A Peugeot spokesman wouldn’t confirm whether the 208 GTI would launch there, but its presence at the Sao Paulo show means its likely to be given a nod if it gets positive feedback.
