The new Subaru BRZ baby coupé has been testing prior to a new concept version appearing at Frankfurt

These spy pictures show an advanced version of the new Subaru BRZ, which will be displayed in concept form at the Frankfurt motor show next week.

The images of the car testing indicate the sleek styling of the all-new baby sports coupé, which is a collaboration between Subaru and Toyota.

The BRZ – stands for “boxer engine, rear-wheel-drive, zenith”, with the latter word claimed to embody Subaru’s “ultimate passion” – was first seen in concept form at the Geneva show earlier this year.

The Frankfurt concept will be a development of the clear plastic-bodied concept at this year’s Geneva motor show that showcased Subaru’s involvement in the coupé it has co-developed with Toyota: the four-cylinder boxer engine, chassis and suspension package.

November’s Tokyo motor show is likely to be the site for the unveiling of the final production version, with sales to follow in 2012. Production will take place at Subaru’s Gumma plant in Japan.
