No car manufacturer has so consistently blurred the line between racing cars and road cars as much as Ferrari. In fact, Enzo Ferrari only began selling road cars (the first being the 125 S from 1947) because he needed the money to continue racing.

The Scuderia can trace its ancestry more directly to the one-make series F355 Challenge car of 1995. This race series morphed into the 360 Challenge, which in 2003 spawned the road-going 360 Challenge Stradale.

House, wife, kids and a kidney for sale or exchange with a 430 Scuderia. Enquire inside. Alex

many spectacular cars, few spectacular drivers.  What was it EF used to say? . . . " . . . too bad that by the time most men can afford one of my cars they are too old to really

enjoy it . . ." - no need to wait on the kidney sale, or even bail on the kids, hok the house or dump the wife.

If you are careful you can get such joy from a good pre-owned Ferrari - I say gently as I plod along as the 4th owner in my gorgeous 2001 456 M GT.

Plod nothing . . . as I was passing a 360 CS with all the go fast gear, taching up thru 4th at about 130 on a recent July 4th ride I was reminded that long ago Ferrari blurred the line between racing and road-going.

Go get one soon, buy a helmet and go to a track, hire a coach - put your ego away and learn to drive your car.   The rewards never stop, even if the wife disapproves outloud or won't ride with you often as is my case, she will secretly be telling her friends there is a Ferrari in the garage. Go drive your net-worth, beats the bank anyday.

Methinks Ferrari are fibbing about the increase in power though.  It is a second faster to 60 nearly 2 seconds faster to 100 and four and a half second faster to 150.   That is way  way more than an additional 20 hp.

I hope the Murcielago SV is going to be receiving a similarly thorough roadtest...

    Damn this car is quick!!

I thought the ZO6 was lightning quick but when it was repeatedly beaten by C Harris in a 997 GT2 it kinda changed things. Now this is quicker still?...wow.

Don't forget it's also lighter than a "regular" 430, which affects performance no less than improved power.

I was chatting with the model standing next to the 430 Scuderia in the Platinum room at this year's British MS and she stated that having sat in the car, she understood what all the fuss is about.

Ha, I wonder what would have been the result should she have been given the keys...

(Shouldn't take too much imagination, eh?)

Autocars verdict was 5 stars I agree.

It's brill. Looks and speed is what Ferrari make and nearly every time they get right if I had the money that car would be mine!

One slighty different thing is Ferrari shouldn't be threating F1 one that they might quit because the f1 racing would be boring and the ferrari drivers will be in trouble for a new team.
