I don't often keep old magazines, but I still have the issue from way back in 1995 with the 993 Turbo on the front, and since that day have loved the car. It was also the first 911 I drove, and loved it to bits!

I agree Steve, the 993 is much more compact inside the cockpit, but you have to drag the back end through the gaps too.  Wonder what their widths over the rear wings (not spoilers) are?

Why do you prefer it Steve?

    One word I guess....  Character.

Old 911's had it in bucket loads, sadly something that is lacking from the newer machines.

I winder whether i'd fit in the 993, i just about fit in my MX 5 and i cose that over an S 2000 because it was too cramped.

Yes, you should do.  The 993 is actually very spacious inside considering.  I too have height and width issues and I fit quite happily.

The S2000 on the other hand is an evil little car for room.  I can just about manage an hour as a driver and less than ten minutes as a passenger in my wife's.

Much better music than usual in this one...  It didn't make me want to throw my laptop out the window.

some top driving by Sutcliffe there.

Intersting comparisson. Would have been nice to see a drag race between the 2 to see how much things have changed over the years. Maybe a circuit lap time too!

it would have been nice to see a more descriptive comparison with respect to the chasis (etc) and how different components have been changed over time to make the newer car faster! what has porsche learnt from its experiences? it is obvious the new turbo is going to be quicker and bigger than the old one...most cars get quicker and bigger through time!
