  • Peugeot 207 GTi

The 207 GTi sits in a kind of hot hatch middle ground. In a supermini, 173bhp is nothing more than even par these days. Our current class favourites, the Vauxhall Corsa VXR and Renault Clio 197, have 189 and 194bhp respectively (though that isn’t our principal reason for liking them).

But the 207 easily outguns Ford’s Fiesta ST and Volkswagen’s Polo GTi. It also, by virtue of having the same engine, has the same wallop as the Mini Cooper S. And when it comes to in-gear performance, t...Read the full article

Sat in one of these in the showroom the other day. It feels huge for a small car, much bigger than the Fiesta et al. I can't get on with Peugoet styling these days, this wide mouth frog look is not a corporate look I would have chosen.

It's when you see this car in the metal and how well screwed together it feels in the showroom, that you appreciate why Mazda has tried something new with the 2.

Although not a fan of Vauxhalls, atleast the Corsa looks less bulky and in keeping with it's small car roots.

Caeser ruled with an iron hand, then with a wooden foot and finally with a piece of string.

Had my 207 GTI for a few months now and I love it. Looked at corsa and clio but didn't like the corsa's styling or the clio's gutless engine. I reckon the pug is easily as much fun as most other hot hatches out at the moment and I think it looks great too.

Completley agree with you. I have also had my 207 GTI for a few months and I have to say I also love it to bits. For anybody who is interested in a well rounded, refined hot hatch with a fair bit of poke this is a great car with no exeptions. Granted the gear box can be fiddly but the 0-62 time of 7.1 I find is reasonably achievable so don't believe reviews that say otherwise. Just to sum it up my father has been a mechanic in the trade since he was 15 and has driven / repaired every sort of car going and he enjoys this hatch. So I would rather take his opinion instead of some reviewer who can't even lift a spanner and then writes about a car! :-) Laughable really! Also I have owned 2 106 gtis in the past and the 207 gti drives very similar to them with all the thrills and spills plus the additonal safety, not bad for a car that weighs 1,250 kg!
