Canadian factory will have 45GWh annual capacity and is due to open in 2024

Stellantis and LG Energy Solution have announced a CA$5 billion (£3.01bn) investment in a joint venture to build a gigfactory in Canada with an annual capacity of 45GWh.

The car-making group claims the Windsor site (just across the border from Detroit) will be the first large-scale, domestic battery factory in Canada, with a view to producing cells for Stellantis’s North American market, where brands such as Chrysler and Jeep are crucial to the conglomerate’s success.
