BMW unveils Mille Miglia concept

No, this isn't the latest Batmobile. It's BMW's latest concept car, unveiled at the 2006 Mille Miglia.

Based on a Z4 M Coupe, the unnamed concept is designed to pay tribute to BMW's historic racing cars, in particular the 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupe that won the original Italian classic in 1940.

The concept's body is 23cm longer than the Z4 and four centimetres lower. It also features design/style elements like carbon fibre underbody fins and diffusers, and air intakes in the A-pillars that allow cooling from the six-cylinder engine.

BMW hasn't issued any interior shots but they could prove interesting when they do appear. Only three materials have been used - stainless steel, untreated cowhides and Lycra...
