Music service Spotify believes it can identify the type of car you will buy based on your musical tastes - and will start targetting advertising based its information.
The Spotify founder and CEO, Daniel Ek, told the Guardian newspaper: "There's a simple principle – we are trying to make a better advertising solution.
"For instance, combining demography with music taste, we can group you with other users. We can then predict whether you like Audi better than BMW and then serve you advertising from either of them.
"There are certain brands that want to be associated with things that are cheerful and others with classical music and there's a lot of things we can do in this area."

Re: Music and car tastes linked
Couldn't agree more...
I've got Suzi Quattro in my Jag (the Series 3) at the moment... Ok, not literally, that would be some hope!
Stil, nowt like throwing a curve ball at the theory, eh?
Re: Music and car tastes linked
Absolutely. Sounds like a swizz to get some free column inches for Spotify rather than bearing any real truth. I'm sure Spotify customers will just love being force fed "targeted" advertising - as if there isn't enough marketing on the web as it is!
Re: Music and car tastes linked
I like to listen to Rnb, Rap, Hip Hop, Bollywood\Bhangrah music so does that mean people who like this sort of music will end up buying VW\Audi l0l
