Currently reading: Saab and Opel factories face closure

The Swedish and German governments are in a battle to help save car factories in their respective countries, with General Motors set to scrap either an Opel or Saab plant. The Swedes have pledged £160m to build a motorway and better rail links to Saab’s threatened Trollhatten plant. Germany, however, claims this could be illegal state aid.
