New Audi TT interior shown at CES

The interior of the new Audi TT has been shown for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Audi says it has adopted new technology and designed the interior of the next-generation TT from scratch, presenting a driver-focused cabin, which no longer features a separate infotainment display in the centre of the dashboard. Instead, all infotainment displays are now found on the all-digital instrument cluster, a move which Audi says has allowed it to save weight and space in the cabin.

The digital instrument display is based on a 12.3-inch screen, with drivers able to select between a classic instrument cluster and a combined instrument and infotainment display which minimises gauges. 

Infotainment functions come courtesy of a new version of Audi's MMI system, which has been redeveloped to allow drivers to use it like a smartphone, with text search functionality as well as zoom and scroll functions accessed via the MMI touch interface.

The interior features the now familar round air nozzles, with temperature and air-conditioning controls situated at their centre rather than on a separate panel. Controls for hazard warning lights and other functions are found in the centre of the dashboard.

Audi has already started benchmarking the new TT's performance against rivals including the Peugeot RCZ, BMW Z4 and Mercedes-Benz SLK. The model has also been spotted testing at the Nürburgring. The new TT will be based on VW Group's MQB platform, and will be launched with both front and four-wheel-drive variants.

The new Audi TT is set to be launched at the end of 2014 as a 2015 model.
