Limited-edition RS4 Avant launches in Geneva to coincide with 20th anniversary of the first RS-badged car from Ingolstadt - the RS2

Audi is celebrating 20 years since the launch of the RS2 Avant with a commemorative edition of the RS4 Avant, which has been unveiled at the Geneva motor show

The RS4 Avant Nogaro edition will be produced in a limited series of an unspecified number, and features special blue paint, black exterior trim and black exhaust tips.

The RS4 special edition uses the same 4.2-litre V8 engine as the standard car, with 444bhp available at 8250rpm and 317lb ft of torque from 4000-6000rpm.

The Nogaro can crack the 0-62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 174mph. Audi says the car is capable of 26mpg on a combined cycle, with CO2 emissions of 249g/km.

As with the standard RS4 Avant, the Nogaro special edition comes with Audi's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic S tronic transmission, with steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. Audi's quattro all-wheel drive features, too.

Inside, the new car gets bespoke leather trim, with elements available in both blue and black leather with special RS badging. Audi's drive select system and MMI infotainment service is also included.

The RS2 Avant was the first RS-badged model to emerge from Ingolstadt when it was launched in 1994. Developed in conjunction with Porsche, the RS2 Avant featured a 2.2-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine with 311bhp. The RS2 could reach 62mph in 5.4 seconds and had a top speed of 163mph.

The RS4 Avant Nogaro edition will go on sale soon after its Geneva debut in Europe at a price of €87,300 (£72,500), a premium of around €10,000 above the standard RS4 Avant in Germany.

Audi is still deciding whether to bring the model to the UK.
