High-riding, body-kitted Polo unveiled - but won't be coming to UK

The new VW Cross Polo has been unveiled - but it will not go on sale in the UK.

The car is essentially a higher-riding, body-kitted version of the standard Polo with a more rugged, off-road look.

The five-door-only car sits 15mm higher than the standard car. There is a choice of three petrol and three diesel engines, ranging in power from 69bhp to 104bhp. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, but three of the engines can be ordered with a seven-speed DSG gearbox as an option.

Styling tweaks include restyled front and bumpers, wheel arch extensions, roof rails and 17-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels.

As in the standard car, the rear seat splits 60/40, and load capacity increases from 280 to 952 litres when the seat backs are folded flat.

Re: VW Cross Polo unveiled

It is a completely pointless car and VW know that barely anyone will buy it in the UK which is why they have not put it on sale !! There is no need for a car like this....even if it did come to the UK I would take a Fiat Panda Cross 4X4 over it because it is cheaper, and is a lot better looking !! Also you would get a lot more space in the Panda.

Panda Cross: half the money (probably) but twice the ability. Not that anyone considering a VW would even consider such a thing; imagine? A FIAT?

Maybe because VW Group wants you to buy the Scout versions of their various Skodas? The market for these things isn't huge and the Polo is quite pricey already, so good-looking or not, the number of customers is probably pretty limited - and now they've got the Mini Countryman and Nissan Juke to choose from too.
