In a new teaser video, the Italian design house reveals the new car's silhouette, suggesting it will be a coupé with Gran Tourer capabilities.

The latest concept is understood to have been styled under Italdesign design boss Filippo Perini, who was appointed last September. Perini was formerly Lamborghini’s design chief.

Volkswagen-owned Italdesign was headed by former VW Group design boss Walter de Silva until November last year when de Silva announced he would leave Volkswagen. His replacement, Michael Mauer, was announced in December.

Italdesign hit the headlines in July last year as Giorgetto Giugiaro, who founded the company in 1968, sold his remaining shares to Audi, bringing to an end his participation in the firm.

Previous concepts unveiled by Italdesign include 2012’s Brivido, a dramatic two-door four-seater coupe constructed of aluminium and carbonfibre with a large glasshouse "dome", and 2013's Parcour crossover (shown above).

In 2014, Italdesign revealed the Clipper electric MPV, and last year showcased the GEA autonomous saloon.
