'Very black' editions of Maserati's four and five-door cars get all-black exteriors and upgraded equipment

Maserati has revealed the Maserati Ghibli, Maserati Quattroporte and Maserati Levante Nerissimo editions as its stars of the Geneva motor show.

Nerissimo edition (meaning 'very black') adds black exterior paint to black trim, including a black-painted grille, window trim, exhaust tips, and wheels, with flourishes of chrome trim remaining.

On the inside, the upholstery and trim are black, although there's the option for carbonfibre interior trim on the Ghibli and Quattroporte. Over the standard cars, the saloons get Maserati's Integrated Vehicle Control stability system as standard. Maserati claims that this improves handling by upgrading the car's body control.

On the Levante, additional underbody protection is available, as is the option to paint the fog light surrounds black to match the rest of the car. A selection of 20in and 21in wheels are available across the Nerissimo edition cars.

The Ghibli, meanwhile, gets sports seats with heating, a heated steering wheel, tinted windows and a powered rear sunblind. Entry-level and Gransport trims are available with the Nerissimo edition. The Quattroporte gets a selection of small tech upgrades such as keyless entry extended to the rear doors as part of the pack, too.

All three cars now also get electric power steering in place of hydraulic systems as part of their 2018 model year update, which allows the use of more advanced driver assistance systems such as lane-keeping assist and highway assist. Maserati claims that the steering feeling remains unchanged despite the update.

The Nerissimo editions sit alongside lightly updated versions of the Granturismo and Grancabrio - both making their respective debuts at Geneva.
