The Lexus RC F GT concept track car and LC 500 Coupé have been on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
Positioned between the Lexus RC F production car and the RC F GT3 race car, the GT concept is more than 360kg lighter than the RC F. It has the same 5.0-litre V8 powerplant and eight-speed automatic transmission as the RC F, with some minor tweaks, including a performance exhaust.
With the substantial drop in weight, the RC F GT is likely to better the RC F’s 0-62mph time of 4.5sec. It tackled the hill climb at Goodwood along with the RC F GT3, LFA and Lexus GS F.
The suspension has been altered to allow more adjustment for different tracks and competitions, while the car’s software has been tweaked to help focus its performance for track use.
The concept, first shown in the US earlier this year at the Pikes Peake international hill climb, was created as an example of how the platforms and powertrains of Lexus’ F models can be utilised.
The LC 500 Coupé, the first model built on Lexus’ GA-L platform, first went on show at the Detroit motor show earlier this year and has made its UK debut at Goodwood.

Lexus RC F Carbon TVD
The RC F Carbon TVD already runs a 4.4 0-62 mph. There is no doubt that yanking stuff out and off of the car will increase acceleration times.
However, the TVD version of the car has already proven itself to be highly track capable. The M4 is a disaster with it torque induced oversteer. There are far too many videos of this car losing control both on and off the track.
I believe it was quite eye-opening for car enthusiasts to learn that the Lexus RC F finished first in its class and overall 24th at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. It's a grueling track by any comparison, and running it for 24 hours is quite a feat.
I am pleased to see Lexus continuing to produce some of the finest high performance cars in the world. Chalk one up for the aspirated engine! The V8 in the RC F is a masterpiece, and it loves to be cranked up.
