New concept car celebrates 25 years of the Subaru Legacy; it also hints at future design direction for the firm

The all-new Subaru Legacy Concept has been revealed for the first time at the LA motor show.

The concept has been designed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Subaru Legacy, with the company saying the concept also shows its future design direction for Legacy models.

Designed to be a modern interpretation of the Legacy, the concept features bespoke silver paintwork with a more dinstinguised front-end design, complete with a new hexagonal grille and new headlight designs. A new 21-inch wheel design and a sharper rear-end design complete the exterior. Subaru hasn't yet revealed powertrain options for the concept, only confirming that it will be all-wheel drive.

While the Legacy Concept has taken centre stage for the firm at LA, Subaru has also unveiled its new Levorg sports tourer concept in Tokyo.

Hyundai Azera Mk2

The Legacy/Outback is a

The Legacy/Outback is a fabulous car. Such a pity that in the UK with 6cyl petrol engines are no longer available. A 3 litre 6cyl hybrid Outback based on the proposed designs would be most appealing.

Very much a concept

With Subaru's history of turning concepts into reality we all know a) it won't look much like this and b) it probably won't be imported to the UK anyway because Subaru UK would prefer not to market anything that isn't a boring SUV
