Bentley boss Wolfgang Dürheimer is open to the firm making a purely rear-wheel-drive hardcore GT3 version of the Continental.
The manufacturer has recently linked the road and race Continental GT programmes with the rear-biased, but still four-wheel-drive, GT3-R.
However, the race-prepared Continental GT3, which has competed with success in this year's Blancpain Endurance Series, is purely rear-wheel drive.
Speaking at the Paris motor show, Dürheimer said Bentley "could push more" with the GT3: "All-wheel drive adds 80kg, so being rear-wheel drive would reduce the lap time and increase that pure sporty feel, in the dry at least.
"But that would of course mean losing all-wheel drive, which has always been on the Continental.
"There's an option to see how this develops, and if interest remains in the road and race GT3 programmes we might do another special car."
