Production saloon and concept EV forecast Chinese manufacturer's targeting of the US and European markets

Chinese manufacturer GAC has revealed its plans for the Detroit motor show with preview images of its new GA4 saloon and an EV concept.

The GA4, which is based on a modified version of an existing GAC platform, is aimed at the family car market.

GAC has made no secret of its plans to tackle the lucrative North American market, in which the GA4 would face rivals such as the Honda Civic Sedan and Toyota Corolla

The EV concept, an SUV called Enverge, has been revealed in a design sketch. No details on the model have yet been revealed, but we do know that it’ll feature the brand’s latest tech, with GAC lauding its "tremendous potential in electrification, networking and intelligent systems".

The brand grew by more than 37% in its native China last year compared with 2016, reaching its target of 500,000 sales.

The GA8 large SUV, GS8 saloon and GM8 MPV models will also be on the brand’s stand at Detroit. These models are already on sale in China.
