The Crewe manufacturer is expected to show off a production-based racing machine based on the Continental GT at the Paris motor show

Bentley is to reveal a concept race car at the Paris motor show next month, Autocar understands.

Speculation from US media that the Paris show car will be a road-going sports car concept is understood to be wide of the mark, with the model instead a race version of one of Bentley's existing models, the Continental GT the most likely candidate.

Autocar understands the racer is not a Le Mans challenger and is instead aimed at another as-yet-unspecified race series.

Bentley's last high-profile racing project was a Le Mans 24 Hours assault in the early 2000s with its Speed 8 prototype, which won the famous race in 2003.
