Paris show: the new Avenger

Attitude. Lots of it: big grille, big wheels, big spoiler, faux rear diffuser. Just say Dodge Avenger and you can hear that bloke who voices all the major film trailers. And Dodge is adamant that the 2008 production version of its Europe-bound front-wheel-drive family saloon will be only marginally less lairy than this Paris show car.

It’s confident, too, that its equipment levels will be more than a match for the Avenger's Mondeo and Vectra rivals.

Power options will be a 2.4-litre V6 petrol or a VW-sourced 2.0-litre diesel. And there may also be a hot 4x4 SRT6 version.
