Honda NSX race car to compete later this year, ahead of the road car's launch

This is the Honda NSX Concept-GT, a racing version of the forthcoming road car.

Unusually, the race car will hit the track ahead of the Honda NSX road car's launch. It will compete in the GT500 class of the 2014 Super GT Championship at Suzuka.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre inline direct-injection 4-cylinder turbo engine, plus what Honda describes as a "racing hybrid system". No other details have been given.

Honda also describes the NSX Concept-GT as "a dedicated racing vehicle based on the NSX Concept".

The race car has been built to the 2014 GT500 regulations set by the Japan Automobile Federation, suggesting it will compete again next year.
