Jaguar has revealed that the new Jaguar F-type will make its official global debut at the Paris motor show on 27 September.
Gaydon’s new sports car will initially be launched as a convertible model and will be available with the choice of three petrol engines. These include the marque’s new supercharged 3.0-litre V6 in either 335bhp or 375bhp flavour, plus a supercharged 5.0-litre V8.
It remains unclear how much power the latter engine will develop, but it is unlikely that it will match the flagship XF, Jaguar XJ and XK’s 503bhp figure. It will, however, deliver 0-60mph in less than five seconds and a top speed in excess of 180mph, according to Jaguar.
All variants of the F-type will feature Jaguar’s eight-speed automatic transmission and will be equipped with stop-start technology as standard.
Jaguar brand director Adrian Hallmark said: “The unveiling of the F-type in Paris will be a truly significant day in Jaguar’s history.
“The F-type will break new ground by delivering stunning sports car performance while vividly demonstrating Jaguar’s cutting-edge engineering technologies and world-class design excellence.”

Manual!!
Why only automatic? I have avoided all Jaguars so far because they do not have a manual option. Which, to me, being an British marque and allegedy making sport(y) cars is difficult to understand. It can't be cost because Jaguars are not cheap and Land Rover has manuals. Is it a a clear sign they only sell them to rich old men who care more about a badge and driving a sofa around than having fun?
The momentum towards flappy paddles and automatic clutches across the industry for so called sport cars is hugely depressing. Give us the option at least. The manual porsche (I hate to say it) will thrash it in sales.
What is even worse in the land of autos (USA) they get the 'option' of a manual M5. Unbelievable.

Castle Bromwich is an assembly and paint/trim shop for Jaguar.

Before you get on your high horse, lets put a few thing into perspective, I admit Gaydon is the home of Jaguar design, but do Jaguar actually build cars there? NO, do Aston Martin design and build cars there? YES.
The F-Type will be built using a modified XK platform at Castle Bromich not at Gaydon.
The Ford Focus CC was designed and assembled by Pininfarina in Italy, you wouldnt class it as an Italian cabriolet would you. I have never seen it described as Cambiano's new car, have you?
