The car maker and Cyan Racing have announced a partnership which includes a performance concept car and entry to the TCR

Lynk & Co has revealed a 493bhp concept car, which is based on a TCR touring car built with leading team Cyan Racing.

The car maker, owned by Chinese giant Geely, said the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan, will be the “first step towards an extended performance offer”.

The Lynk & Co 03, on which the race car is based, is a saloon whose main market is China.

Other models in the line-up include the 02, a compact SUV, which is due to launch in Europe in 2020.

The concept car was revealed as part of announcement confirming Cyan Racing will enter the FIA World Touring Car Car with the 03 TCR race car. The WTCC currently runs for the TCR formula, which is also used in a number of national series.

The team, Lynk & Co Cyan Racing, will face fierce opposition from brands such as Audi, Alfa Romeo, Cupra, Hyundai and Volkswagen when the series starts in 2019.

A Geely spokesman said: "The fusion between Lynk & Co and Cyan Racing will form the spearhead of our automotive performance debut.

“The combination of Lynk & Co's challenge of auto industry conventions and Cyan Racing's vast motorsport and performance experience are two key elements in this unique cooperation."

Cyan Racing, previously ran fellow Geely firm Volvo's works team in the now-defunct World Touring Car Championship, in partnership with Polestar, winning the title in 2017.
