This is AMG’s 360bhp V8 version of the new Mercedes-Benz SLK. Replacing the V6 SLK 32 AMG at the head of the folding hard-top line-up, the SLK 55 AMG will arrive in the UK late this year, six months behind the launch of the all-new car.
Power is up by 13bhp to 360bhp and the new car shaves 0.3sec from the 0-62mph time, which now stands at a scant 4.9sec. Top speed is 155mph.
A more aggressive front end is forged by a new spoiler complete with side vents. A redesigned bumper wraps the quad-piped rear end, which also gets a new boot spoiler. The price jumps £2500 to a lofty £48,000.
