Vauxhall's Duncan Aldred takes senior Buick role in GM reshuffle; Mazda 2 Colour Editions offer more kit and new trim; dates confirmed for motor shows in London and Monaco

Vauxhall boss Duncan Aldred will become US vice-president, Buick-GMC sales, service and marketing, from March 1, parent company GM has announced. In recent years Aldred has been credited with driving Vauxhall's sales during a turbulent period for the firm's European arm, Opel. His UK successor is yet to be revealed.

A pair of new high-spec Mazda 2are on sale now, priced from £11,745. A 74bhp 1.3 petrol-powered Colour Edition comes with new alloys and trim inside and out. A more powerful 84bhp Sport Colour Edition adds sat-nav and costs £12,854. Both models are based on SE Air Con-spec 2s.

The UK's largest free-to-view motor show - the Regent Street motor show - will return on Saturday 1 November, a date chosen to coincide with the annual London-to-Brighton Veteran Car run. Last year's show featured 300 cars, including iconic classics and future concepts. 

The 11th annual Top Marques Monaco show takes place in Monte Carlo from 17-20 April. In 2014 the focus is on electric super vehicles, "in line with the Principality's ambitions to become a model eco-friendly state". Models confirmed include the Quant e-Sportlimousine and a pair of electric bikes.

Back in 2008 the Mazda 2 was voted World Car of the Year. Considering the car’s engineering thoroughness and individuality, that shouldn’t be a surprise.
