It’s not quite a BMW M5, but at two-thirds of the price the new Chrysler 300C SRT-8 offers a heap of performance for a not-so-huge pile of cash.Based on Chrysler’s distinctive 300C saloon, the SRT-8 has a 6.1-litre Hemi shoehorned under the hood, which means it packs a healthy 419bhp and 420lb ft.There’s more to the SRT-8 then just a big motor, however; it has been given a thorough makeover by Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) division. The SRT-8 uses special Brembo brakes and lowered, stiffened suspension with Bilstein dampers. Up front, a unique bumper helps reduce drag and increase airflow to the engine and brakes while two large exhaust pipes project from the new rear valance. Wheels are 20-inch alloys with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.The 300C SRT-8 is available now in right hand drive for £39,040, but Chrysler said it only intends to bring only “a small number” to the UK this year.Read our first drive here.
