The Skoda Enyaq iV and performance Enyaq vRS have received a significant round of powertrain updates and interior adjustments, ahead of the model’s full, extensive facelift late next year.
Both models receive power increases, ramped-up charging speeds and boosted range thanks to a new motor, plus a new infotainment system which Skoda describes as more intuitive than the previous version.
The entry-level, rear-wheel drive Enyaq 60 remains unchanged, producing 176bhp. The Enyaq 80 meanwhile has been replaced by 85 Edition and 85x Sportline Plus models, adding much-improved performance.
The Enyaq 85 Edition and 85x SportLine Plus models produce an additional 80bhp compared to the existing Enyaq 80, for a total of 282bhp.
Skoda says the 85 variant can hit 0-62mph in 6.7sec - around 2.0sec faster than the Enyaq 80 - while the all-wheel drive Sportline Plus completes it in 6.6sec.
The sporty Enyaq vRS has received a 40bhp boost, pushing its total output to 335bhp, and cutting its 0-62mph time by a second to 5.5sec. Torque also increases to 402lb ft. The changes also mean All Enyaq models now offer the same top speed of 111mph.
In terms of range, the Enyaq has gained an improvement of around 15 miles. The range boost means the Enyaq 85 offers 348 miles and the sleeker Coupe over 353 miles.
Entry-level cars can charge up to 120kW, while the Enyaq 85 sits at 135kW. The 85x Sportline and the vRS can both charge at 175kW.
The Enyaq vRS’s infotainment software has received a subtle rework, intended to make the system more informative and simpler to operate.
Skoda has added customisable quick-access buttons, which the firm says can be used to turn off the lane assist or switch on the windscreen heater, among other functions such as accessing smartphone mirroring and the sat nav.
