These are the latest spy pictures of the facelifted BMW X6 in testing ahead of its June launch. Spearheading the new line-up will be a hot new M-fettled diesel model, set to be launched under BMW’s new BMW M Performance Automobiles line-up.
The controversial coupe-come-SUV has been a surprise success since it launched in 2009. BMW is sold in excess of 120,000 X6 units, and rivals Mercedes and Audi have both revealed plans to build a rival to the model.
The styling changes will be minor, as this lightly disguised mule caught in winter testing in the arctic circle reveals. The revised X6 will get a new bumper at subtly revised headlight design at the front, along with new lights at the rear.
Engine wise, the new triple-turbo six-cylinder diesel is the biggest news. It is claimed to produce a 376bhp and a mighty 546lb ft. This model will be called BMW X6 M50d xDrive and will also feature a M-tuned chassis, although it stops short of being a full-on M car.
On the petrol side, the line-up will be again topped by the X6 M, which is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8. This model has proved to be a particular hit in the US, where a near identically priced X6 petrol-electric hybrid had to be axed as buyers were opting for the M model instead.
