The Maserati Kubang SUV concept will be built at Chrysler’s Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit alongside the Grand Cherokee on which it is based, it has been announced today at the Detroit motor show.
The sleek four-door integrates Maserati's trademark rear haunches into a coupe-esque body with a shallowly raked rear.
Described by Maserati the "the first tangible look at Maserati's future", the Kubang is the firm's first attempt at a sports luxury SUV since the Kubang concept at Detroit in 2003.
Maserati says that the a new generation of engines will be designed in Modena, and produced in Maranello by Ferrari. Power will be transmitted by an 8-speed auto 'box.

Re: Frankfurt show - Maserati Kubang
The Kubang is hideous. Fullstop. If Masser do it, it will probably make them a fortune just as Bentley believe.
Re: Frankfurt show - Maserati Kubang
autocar bumped it in effect with the rehashing of the original piece this time with the news coming from Detroit confirming production there and perpetuating the myth that Ferrari will design and build the engines in Italy which, except for the top of the range V12, isn't going to happen.
Re: Frankfurt show - Maserati Kubang
Why did someone have to bump this thread? I'd just about got this abomination out of my mind. If they eventually have the temptation to fit this with a diesel I think I might have to fire-bomb a few dealers.
