The new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Jeep’s most powerful model ever, has gone on sale in the UK now, priced £58,995.

To help reduce fuel and emissions, the engine can operate on four of the eight cylinders when less power is needed. When all eight cylinders are operating, a maximum of 470bhp and 465lb ft of torque is available.
Priced at £58,995, the SRT8 is more than £20,000 less than the twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 BMW X6 and almost £30,000 less than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, powered by 4.8-litre V8.
A new luxury edition of the Grand Cherokee has also gone on sale. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit is priced at £44,795 and powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, which gives 237bhp at 4000rpm and 406lb ft of torque at 1800rpm.
This model has 20-inch alloys, satnav, a leather covered dashboard and real wood trim as standard. Also included are heated and ventilated saddle-coloured Nappa leather seats and a heated leather steering wheel.
It also gets brown paint, a chrome grille and fog lamp bezels that are exclusive to this variant of the Grand Cherokee.
