Toyota's third-generation Toyota Avensis has been revealed at the Frankfurt motor show

The new Toyota Avensis has made its debut at the Frankfurt motor show.

Changes to the third-generation car include a “bolder, more refined exterior design and improvements to the finish quality, comfort and NVH in the cabin,” according to Toyota.

Revisions have also been made to the 2.0-litre D-4D engine to reduce Co2 emissions by 20g/km Co2 to 119g/km Co2. Changes to the 124bhp engine include a new turbocharger and combustion chamber modifications. Power is transferred to the tarmac through a six-speed manual gearbox.

Externally, the car’s dimensions remain unchanged, but a new front grille gives a more “assertive, dynamic look.” Changes to the rear include a newly-designed bumper and revised light clusters.

Inside the new Avensis, upgraded fabrics are offered in new colours and the centre console has been improved to aid usability. Leather has also been introduced to cover the rear console box lid and the front seats offer better support and comfort.

New kit for the third-gen car includes the availability of Toyota’s Touch and Go Plus, with voice recognition and enhanced sat-nav mapping.

Specific specification details and pricing are yet to be announced.
