New seven-seat SUV will not be sold in the UK

Infiniti revealed its new new seven-seat luxury crossover concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The Infiniti JX, which will be revealed in its production guide at the LA motor show in November, is claimed by the firm to "excel in three areas where luxury crossover buyers put an emphasis, interior flexibility and roominess, safety and innovative 'hospitality' features".

In production form, the JX will be offered with a V6 petrol engine and either front or all-wheel drive. New technologies will be offered including Backup Collision Intervention, which helps the driver detect crossing objects behind the vehicle and if necessary the system engages the brakes to avoid a collision.

The JX, which is not destined for UK sales, will also come with a 14-speaker Bose studio surround sound system, an advanced Infiniti Connection Telematics system that can automatically sync the owner’s calendar and provide navigation guidance to appointments.

“The JX Concept advances the Infiniti design language, sharing design cues of the Infiniti Essence concept, yet interprets those elements in ways suitable to the needs of a family luxury crossover.” said senior vice president and chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura.

Also on display on Infiniti's Pebble Beach stand was a facelifted version of its FX SUV> Like the JX, it is not likely to be offered in the UK.Niki Sorabjee
