Seat's current design chief will be replaced by his opposite number at Renault Samsung

Seat design director Luc Donckerwolke has left his role to takeover as head of advanced design at Volkswagen Group.

His replacement at Seat is Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, who leaves his design director role at Renault Samsung Motors in Korea. Both men will start their new roles on 1 August.

Donckerwolke, who has been with VW Group since 1992, moved to Seat in 2005, following a two-year stint as design chief at Lamborghini, where he designed the Gallardo and Murciélago.

At Seat, the Belgian was responsible for the current Ibiza range and the Tribu, IBE and IBX concept cars.

Mesonero-Romanos first joined VW Group in 1995, working on several Seat, Audi and Volkswagen models. The Spaniard left VW Group to join Renault in 2001.
