Design manager Jo Slater has created a new interior ambience for the Range Rover Evoque

The interior of the all-new Range Rover Evoque delivers a "new ambience" not yet seen in the industry and is one created for the "design savvy," according to design manager Jo Slater.

"Our brief was to design a Range Rover, but one aimed at a new group of people," she says.

"We looked at the existing Range Rover brand and its materials and details and found a strength of character about the Range Rover Sport that we exploited."

Three trim levels are available - Pure, Dynamic and Prestige - the first of which delivers the "purest form" of the Evoque, according to Slater. "Dynamic brings more colour and character to the interior" and "Prestige is the ultimate Range Rover finish, with full leather trim. There's 10sq m of leather in the Prestige cabin, with a dark topper (dashboard) and contrasting lighter leather lower down," Slater added.

The Range Rover Evoque will cost from £27,955 for the two-wheel-drive diesel manual version when it reaches UK showrooms in September.

It will be built alongside the Land Rover Freelander, with the first 15-20,000 Evoques built before customer-specified models roll down the production line to provide suppliers with an initial stability of orders.

Three engine options are available: a 2.2-litre turbodiesel in 148bhp or 187bhp states of tune, and a 236bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit.
