The new Saab 9-5 SportWagon will go on sale in the UK this autumn, with on-the-road prices starting at £28,195 for the 160bhp 2.0TiD Vector SE model.
The 2012 model year 9-5 range also incorporates a number of chassis changes developed on UK roads and incorporating feedback from Autocar staffers.

The SportWagon appears to be a substantial load carrier, with boot space of 527-litres and 1600-litre with the rear seats down. The seat backs fold flat down onto the seat squabs and Saab also says that the flat-sided load bay is ‘over six feet long’ . Aluminium roof rails and a U-rail in the boot for securing luggage are both standard-issue on the SportWagon.
All versions of the 9-5 have reduced Co2 outputs, partly thanks to the standard stop-start, with the entry-level manual diesel returning 125g/km in the saloon and 128g/km in the estate. The 190bhp 2.0 TTiD manual estate returns 146g/km and the £32,165 2.0 TTiD 4x4 cross-wheel drive estate 174g/km.
The range-topping 2.8 V6 turbo 4x4 SportWagon - which gets a six-speed autobox - will cost £39,195. Saab says the Vector SE’s chassis features revised front spring rates, damper settings and new bushes.
The Aero model now gets DriveSense real-time damping control, variable effort hydraulic power steering as standard.
Interior equipment sees a considerable upgrade, with Sat-Nav and a DAB radio now standard on all 9-5 models and the Vector SE dashboard now gets a brushed metal-effect finish in place of the plain black plastic of the 2011 9-5.
